Concord Volunteer Fire Department invests in new tech for emergency vehicle alerts

Picture this: you’re driving home from work, music loud, eyes forward, when all of a sudden, an emergency vehicle is blaring its horn at you.

While Virginia Move Over laws require drivers to slow down and change lanes for active emergency vehicles, flashing lights and sirens often don’t always provide enough warning to drivers.

This is especially true when driving at high speeds, in poor visibility, or when you don’t hear the sirens until it’s too late.

The Concord Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) is getting an upgrade that helps both the firefighters and motorists. Rescue 13 & Engine 13-1 with the CVFD introduce the implementation of a HAAS Alert Safety Cloud.

This public safety solution provides real-time digital notifications to alert drivers when emergency vehicles are approaching. The system also alerts drivers if they’re approaching an active emergency scene.

CVFD says, “This life-saving technology provides drivers with crucial extra warning time – proven to reduce collision risks by up to 90%.”
