Sedgwick County fire station receives life-saving equipment for pets

Sedgwick County Fire District 1 received a donation of life-saving equipment to treat animals exposed to smoke. The FETCH Foundation, an Arizona nonprofit organization, visited Fire Station 32 on Tuesday afternoon. This station, located at 7750 N. Wyandotte Way, Park City, received nine Essential Fido Bag kits.

Fido Bags are emergency treatment kits designed for first responders to save animals after fire rescues. Each kit contains a reusable muzzle mask for administering oxygen to an animal, along with other life-saving tools. The donation value is more than $1,100. The FETCH Foundation estimates that more than a half million pets are affected by fires each year, and over 40,000 pet deaths have been caused by smoke inhalation.
