New digital warning system helps protect first responders in Benton County

Benton County Fire Protection District #2 is stepping up its protection while out responding to emergencies in the area. The district’s emergency response vehicles are now equipped with HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud. This software alerts drivers when they are near emergency vehicles or road workers, which can help avoid potential crashes with first responders.

HAAS Alert, the makers of Safety Cloud, said these digital alerts improve Move Over law compliance by giving drivers 30 seconds of warning to slow down and move over. It says this kind of warning has been proven to “reduce collision risks by up to 90%.” “By providing drivers with additional time to respond appropriately, this service establishes a safer environment for both our crew and surrounding motorists,” said Assistant Chief Todd Dormaier.
